Magazine Advert

To the left is the first of our ancillary tasks. The magazine advert. This was inspired by many of the music/single/album adverts we've seen on the internet and in magazines. It was very difficult for either of us to find R&B single adverts to really analyse and use as a guide so we used the one's we could find to the best of our abilities. This magazine cover was done using Adobe Photoshop. The picture is one which was taken by the team using the equipment we had for example; we tried using our digital cameras, phone cameras etc.We eventually decided on using the picture taken with a very good camera phone. We edited the picture within Photoshop removing the background, adding a filter and retouching. The filter used on the picture is black and white so it can stand out from the colourful, graffitti-like background which was also made by the production team. We used Photoshop stamps and overlapped them in the themed colours (blues and greens) and pasted them over a black canvas to make the background. Fortunately, the production team didn’t experience many difficulties while making the magazine posters except on study for existing ads. For inspiration we used adverts for films and DVD releases so we can get an idea of layout and what to include. The outcome is one which we are contented with.
